One of the raves right now is It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, an American sitcom which follows the lives of five misfits who jointly run an Irish bar, Paddy’s pub.

Their antics, rivalry, and schemes of the characters provide ample entertainment for the viewers who can’t help getting invested in the characters and rooting for them to not make a bad decision or rather that their bad decisions do not have grave consequences. The series started airing in August 2005 and is still running to date. With 154 episodes released so far, the series is regarded as one of the best sitcoms to come out of America.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia won the 2011 Satellite Award for Best Television Series, Comedy or Musical, and the 2016 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable Tv  Comedy. Below is a list of 20 of the best episode in the series.

20. The Gang Dines Out (Season 8, Episode 9)

Mac and Dennis decide to treat themselves to a dinner at the most sought out eatery in Philly. Their private dinner becomes not so private anymore when they spot other members of the gang. Frank and Charlie are together while Dee dines is alone. Dee is embarrassed to be caught eating alone and tries to go unnoticed by the others who are engaged in a silent contest of wills.

19. The Gang Beats Boggs (Season 10, Episode 1)

While on a flight to LA, the gang attempts to individually surpass baseball player, Wade Bogs’ record of drinking 7o bears on a cross country flight. With enough beers to go round and Mac serving as scorekeeper, they commence drinking till they pass out or set a new record.

18. The Gang Get Quarantined (Season 9, Episode 7)

The gang enters a singing contest with the hope of winning an open spot for the upcoming Boys II Men concert.  A severe flu outbreak forces them to make the decision to go on self-imposed isolation so they don’t get infected by the flu before they are able to take part in the contest.

17. Sweet Dee’s Dating a Retarded Person (Season 3, Episode 9)

When Dee starts dating an upcoming rapper, Dennis tells her that her boyfriend, lil’ Kevin attended special needs classes in elementary school and tries to convince her that he’s retarded. Dee does not believe her brother and they set out to prove each other wrong by keeping the score of Kevin’s retarded vs. his non-retarded attributes.

16. The Gang Hits the Road (Season 5, Episode 2)

One of the items on Franks bucket list is visiting the Grand Canyon. Frank, Dennis, and Mac decide to go on a road trip to the Grand Canyon while Charlie and Dee are to stay behind to look after the pub. Not wanting to be left behind, Charlie and Dee join the guys on their road trip.

15. The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention (Season 5, Episode 4)

After embarrassing himself at the burial of Uncle Max, the gang attempts to save Frank from his life of depravity. Dennis, Dee, and Charlie meet a therapist to help with the supposed intervention.

14. The Gang Buys a Boat (Season 6, Episode 3)

Dennis, Mac, and Charlie use the money they made from dicktowel.com to buy a boat. Mac and Dennis want a P-Diddy while Charlie wants Forest Grump Style shrimping vessel. Instead of their preference they buy the houseboat, the sailor introduces them to.  The gang takes to sea with their newly acquired boat.

13. Mac and Charlie Die, Part One (Season 4, Episode 5)

Convinced that they have to either fake their deaths or kill themselves in order to escape the revenge of Luther, Mac’s father when he is granted parole after he is able to prove that Mac and Charlie’s testimony to the parole board is false by playing a tape of them planning to lie that Luther forced them to smuggle heroin, they both opt for faking their deaths and have to come up with the best way to convince people that they are indeed dead.

12. Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack (Season 4, Episode 10)

After Dee has a heart attack and is kicked out of the hospital because she does not have health insurance, Dee and Dennis decide to start living a healthier lifestyle while Mac and Charlie start searching for a job that would provide them with health insurance.

11. The Gang Gets Analyzed (Season 8, Episode 5)

Unable to decide who would do the dishes after the cooperative dinner Dee’s therapist advised her to organize, Dee brings the gang along with the dishes to her therapy session. In the therapist’s office, they all insist that someone order than themselves should be responsible for the dishes. The therapist proposes that there is a lot more to their disagreement and offers to help them resolve their issues.

10. Dennis and Dee Go on Welfare (Season 2, Episode 3)

Dennis and Dee decide to quit their jobs as bartenders for something better. Mac convinces them that they can make money from welfare so they both start consuming large amounts of cocaine to facilitate the process while Mac and Charlie are stuck doing all the work in the pub.

9. Mac and Dennis Move to the Suburbs (Season 11, Episode 5)

After burning down their rent-controlled apartment, Mac and Dennis have to find a new place to live. They find a place in the suburbs, an hour drive from the pub and convince themselves that life in the suburbs could be good for them. Frank makes a bet with them that they wouldn’t last a month before they cave and move back to the city.

8. Charlie Work (Season 10, Episode 4)

The gang finds out that the health inspector is coming to conduct a surprise inspection of the pub. They all set out to turn the disorderly state of the pub around and make it look like a real restaurant before the inspector arrives.

7. Frank Reynolds Little Beauties (Season 7, Episode 3)

Frank invests in a beauty pageant for young girls and is worried that people might misunderstand his intent and take him for a child molester and he would get arrested like the previous investor. Charlie, Mac, and Dennis write songs for the pageant and decide to take part in the show.

6. The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award (Season 9, Episode 3)

With the desire to acquire the recognition that comes with being nominated or winning the award given by the Annual Bar Association, the gang decides to give Paddy’s a face lift with inspiration gotten from other bars they have visited and hope the result would be good enough for them to stand a chance at winning the award.

5. The Gang Goes to the Jersey Shore (Season 7, Episode 2)

Mac has to chokehold Charlie into unconsciousness so they can successfully take him along with them to Dee and Denis’s favorite vacation spot on Jersey Shore. The gang tries to make the most of the vacation but then Dee and Denis realize that it is no longer as charming as they remember.

4. The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis (Season 4, Episode 2)

In an attempt to make money from the high gas rates, Mac, Dennis, and Charlie buy barrels of gasoline from a gas station with the intention of selling it at a higher price. They try to sell it back to the gas station which does not work out and resort to selling them by setting up a lemonade-stand-like gas station.

3. The D.E.N.N.I.S. System (Season 5, Episode 10)

Dennis brags that he can seduce and gain the love of any woman by making use of a system he refers to as the D.E.N.N.I.S. system, short for domestic value, engage physically, nurture dependence, neglect emotionally, inspire hope and finally separate entirely. He proceeds to explain the concept to the gang.

2. The Nightman Cometh (Season 4, Episode 13)

In this episode, Charlie writes a stage musical and recruits the members of the gang to help with the play. The gang has to learn their parts before they perform it before an audience on the day of the musical.

In this episode, gang plays a homemade board game created by Mac, Dee, Charlie, and Dennis. They split into two groups with Dee and Dennis playing against Mac, Charlie, and Frank.
