Position Summary

We are looking for an eager and motivated Cafe Assistant to join our colourful team! In this role, you will be the welcoming face for clients, keeping the café running smoothly and creating a warm, inviting ambiance. Your enthusiasm and eye for detail will contribute to excellent service, food safety standards, and the general success of our café. This is a compensated position and a great opportunity to gain experience in food service and client interaction in a vibrant setting.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Warmly and friendly greet customers and take orders with excitement and accuracy
• Prepare and serve a variety of beverages including coffee, tea and speciality drinks according to recognised recipes and standards
• Assist with food prep duties such as assembling sandwiches, salads or baked items to ensure speedy service
• Maintain a clean and tidy café environment including tables, counters and equipment.
• Adhere to strict food safety procedures and guarantee that all cleanliness and quality requirements are always maintained
• Accurate handling of cash register transactions such as cash, card payments, and receipt issuance
• Assist with inventory management by refilling supplies and reporting low stock levels to supervisors

Education & Credentials

• Training will be provided; however, experience as a barista or knowledge of coffee manufacturing equipment is preferable
• Understanding of food safety standards and best practices for cleanliness standards
• Ability to serve consumers with a good attitude in an effective way
• Basic math abilities for processing transactions and correct weighing of ingredients
• Excellent time management abilities to prioritise activities during complicated situations
• Ability to operate successfully in a team atmosphere in a fast-paced setting.
• Desire to develop new skills in food preparation and customer service
