An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Neonatal Home Care Nurse to work within the Neonatal Home Care Service, hosted by Leicester Hospitals.

Neonatal Community Care is provided across Leicestershire and Rutland and the Northamptonshire region, including University Hospitals of Leicester, Kettering, and Northampton Hospitals.

This position will primarily be based in Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland

The post holder will be an excellent team worker and will be responsible for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care for infants within the scope of neonatal outreach, providing specialist ongoing care for the neonate and advice, support, and education to the family in the home.

Home naso gastric tube feeding and Home oxygen service is currently well embedded, and more recently, we have expanded services further to include care of babies at home on phototherapy for the treatment of jaundice.

We are seeking a highly motivated Neonatal Nurse to join our forward-thinking team. The successful candidate will demonstrate the drive and motivation to support the implementation of an exciting service. To be successful in this role, you will need to be a registered nurse/midwife with post specialist neonatal course QIS experience, and current Health visitor or Paediatric community care experience would also be considered

Main duties of the job

  • The job holder will assist the Neonatal Unit, transitional care-based staff with early and appropriate discharge planning in accordance with the criteria for outreach care.
  • To provide a seamless, timely discharge from the hospital to the home environment.
  • The job holder will carry continuing responsibility for a defined caseload, including the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex care programmes, ensuring continuous provision of integrated care.

Provide specialist on-going care for the neonate and education, advice, and support to the family in the home environment.

  • The job holder will take a proactive role in the education and training of the multidisciplinary team(s), providing ongoing supervision and support as an expert.
  • To work effectively and efficiently as an Outreach team member as well as independently in the planning, assessment, implementation, and evaluation of neonatal community care.
  • To plan, time manage, and initiate a weekly schedule based on workload requirements, which will meet the needs of the service and ensure that individual family needs are met.

Training & Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (Level 1) RGN /RSCN.
  • Post Registration qualification in speciality (ENB405 /QIS)
  • Recognised Teaching and Assessors qualification, Willing to undergo training in relation to post
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Advanced Neonatal Life Support

Desirable

  • Community care of the neonate qualification
