Position Overview
This is a fixed-term/secondment to 31/07/2028. If you are a Hywel Dda University Health Board employee applying for this role on secondment, approval for secondment is required from your present management prior to application.
We are recruiting a newly qualified pharmacist, or a pharmacist looking for a change of sector, to join our dynamic, close-knit, supportive clinical Pharmacy team at Withybush General Hospital.
You will have the opportunity to work across a range of general medical and surgical wards and be a major member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medicines to improve patient outcomes.

Main Responsibilities
You will be part of a vibrant and progressive pharmacy team, and you will:
- Provide clinical pharmacy services.
- Counsel patients to enhance their understanding and ensure adherence to therapy.
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective use of medicines
- Actively participate in board and ward rounds and encourage safe prescribing and discharge planning
- Encouraging antimicrobial stewardship and schemes for optimisation of drugs.
- Contribute to efforts to enhance and improve the quality of services
- Delivering teaching and training through supervision and mentorship of junior pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students, and clinical ward personnel
Role Profile
Knowledge & Qualifications
Required
- Master’s degree in Pharmacy (4 years or equivalent)
- Member of General Pharmaceutical Council (registered pharmacist or pre-registration pharmacy trainee at time of application, must be a registered pharmacist at time of start date)
- English language qualification – GCSE grade C or above or IELTS score of 6.5 in writing and 6.0 in other elements.
- Professional knowledge of medication management systems and processes in an integrated NHS.
Work History
Essential
- Experience in pharmacy and healthcare knowledge
Desirable
- Demonstrated success across more than one aspect of pharmaceuticals management
- Hospital experience.
Tech Services
- Experience in teaching and supervising preregistration chemists, technicians and assistants.
- General practice experience
Language Abilities
Preferred
- Welsh Speaker (level 1)
