About the Role

Apple Pharmacy – Craigend is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispensing Assistant to join our team. In this position, you will assist the pharmacy team in offering high-quality pharmaceutical services to our community. You will play a major role in the safe and effective dispensing of medication, guaranteeing good customer service, and meeting all regulatory and legal requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

• Medication Dispensing: Assist in the preparation, labelling and dispensing of prescriptions correctly under the supervision of a registered chemist.
• Stock Management: Assist in maintaining stock levels by monitoring deliveries, ensuring items are stored correctly and updating inventory records.
• Patient Interaction: Provide courteous service to patients. Answer routine questions and refer more complex questions to the chemist.
• Compliance: Abide by all legal and regulatory obligations including confidentiality standards, health and safety rules and recommendations for good practice in pharmacy operations.
• Administrative Support: Keep records up to date, handle transactions and support administrative duties such as filing, data entry and dealing with phone enquiries.
• Quality Assurance: Maintain cleanliness, organization and standards of all dispensing areas in accordance with pharmacy standards.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: Dispensing qualification desirable; however, complete training will be given to the right individual.
• Attention to Detail: Precise in dispensing prescriptions, labelling medications and maintaining records.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, coworkers and other health professionals.
• Organisational Skills: Strong prioritisation skills, time management and capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
• IT Knowledge: Familiarity with common office applications and pharmaceutical management systems – we use Analyst PMR systems.
• Knowledge of the law relating to pharmacy and the ethical principles applying in Scotland.
