Bookkeeper / Accounts Payable and Finance Assistant – UK visa sponsorship
The Function
You will be in charge of supporting the daily operations of the finance function and making sure that supplier accounts, bank transactions, and accounting records are kept up to date and effectively. You will report to the finance manager and collaborate closely with the CFO and other operational teams. As the company moves toward a more integrated accounting and reporting environment, you will also help develop new financial procedures and controls.
Important Duties
Payable Accounts
- Accurately and quickly process supplier invoices.
- Compare purchase orders, supporting documents, and bills.
- Examine and address questions about supplier invoices.
- Keep track of supplier account information.
- Supplier statements should be reconciled.
- Keep an eye on elderly creditors and locate past-due amounts.
- Help with runs of supplier payments.
- Communicate with vendors about payment status and account enquiries.
- Assist in putting Accounts Payable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) into practice.
Reconciliations between banks
- Conduct weekly and daily bank reconciliations.
- Examine transactions that have not been reconciled.
- Keep an eye on cash payments and receipts.
- Verify that accounting and financial records match.
- Assist with forecasting and cash flow reporting.
Certifications & Sales Ledger
- Create sales invoices based on certifications and applications that have been accepted.
- Accurately post certified applications into Xero and Sage 50.
- Keep supporting records for invoicing from customers.
- Help with debtor reconciliations.
- When necessary, assist the credit control procedure.
Bookkeeping in general
- Post accounting transactions and journals.
- Preserve the accuracy of the nominal ledger.
- Handle overhead costs and invoicing.
- Help with scheduling and VAT preparation.
- Keep your electronic filing systems organised.
- Assist with month-end accounting processes.
- Help prepare management information.
Enhancing Systems and Procedures
- Help with Xero implementation and migration.
- Use Sage 50 Accounts Professional to keep correct accounting records.
- Encourage the creation of better financial controls.
- Assist in recording and enhancing financial procedures.
- Make sure every transaction has a transparent audit trail.
Requirements for Candidates
Crucial
- Prior expertise in accounts payable or bookkeeping.
- Knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts.
- Strong background in bank reconciliation.
- Strong Excel abilities.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Strong ability to organise.
- The capacity to oversee several priorities.
- Professional and self-assured communication abilities.
- Familiarity with working in a hectic setting.

- Knowledge of Xero.
- Experience in the construction business.
