Overview
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Youth/Children Church Coordinator to guide and support our young ones in the congregation. This work involves arranging engaging programmes, creating a safe and inviting environment, and promoting the spiritual growth of children and teenagers within the church community. Ideally, the individual would be a strong leader, communicate well, and have a real enthusiasm for working with children and young people. This is a paid position which offers the chance to make a real effect on the lives of young congregants, and to build organisational and mentoring skills.
Duties
- Plan and coordinate weekly youth and children’s church programs to ensure they are interesting, informative, and age-appropriate for each grade level
- Lead Sunday school sessions and special activities, helping to create a healthy spiritual atmosphere
- Develop programmes to foster moral values, team collaboration, and self-development among children and teenagers.
- Support young people’s faith journey through one-to-one support and group activities
- Collaborate with church personnel and volunteers to plan fundraising events for youth programs
- Implement rules and processes for safeguarding to ensure safety
- Communicate efficiently with parents, guardians, and church members on programme updates and planned events
- Help train volunteers to give successful teaching and mentoring sessions
Work Experience
- Previous teaching or mentoring experience of children or young people in a community or faith-based environment is desirable.
- Demonstrated leadership aptitude and capacity to engage and inspire others
- Excellent communication abilities to relate to children, parents, volunteers, and church leadership
- Experience of organising events or programs for youth development
- Experience of working with vulnerable children or knowledge of hospice care is desirable but not essential
- Ability to finance or coordinate community outreach programs is a bonus.
