Job summary
Exciting opportunity for a Qualified Mammographer or Trainee Mammographer. Training Posts will be at band 5 (subject to AfC Banding) with uplift to band 6 on completion of the required qualification.
We would like to hear from self-motivated, enthusiastic female* Mammographers or Radiographers who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work within our busy Breast Imaging Service
The successful applicant will be reliable, friendly, and hardworking with excellent organisational and communication skills. The ability to integrate well with the existing team and a genuine desire to contribute to service development and quality improvement is essential. Excellent concentration skills and attention to detail, with the ability to empathise with and understand client/patient needs.
If you are a qualified radiographer, this opportunity allows you to train in mammography by completing the PG Cert in Mammography Practice.
Bolton Breast Imaging is committed to providing high-quality care for all clients/patients attending for Breast Imaging. Imaging is undertaken for Bolton Breast Screening and Symptomatic Services, delivered at the base site at Bolton Royal Hospital, and at our 3 satellite sites in Bolton centre, Radcliffe and Rochdale.
The service fully supports skill mix, with Consultant, Advanced, Enhanced and Assistant/Associate Practitioners. We are a progressive service and are supportive and actively promote continued professional development.
Main duties of the job
The role of a Mammographer is to provide and maintain a high standard of mammography for all patients and clients attending for breast imaging. To work alongside Enhanced and Advanced Practitioners in interventional procedures, assisting in core biopsies, VAB’s and localisations. To undertake daily, weekly and monthly quality control tests in line with the department’s quality assurance programme and report any equipment malfunction or image deterioration promptly. Regular self-assessment and peer review of performance associated with service audit is integral to the role as is continual professional development (CPD).

- BSc (Hons) Radiography degree/Diploma of the College of Radiographers equivalent
- Willingness to undertake PG Certificate
- HCPC Registered

- Postgraduate Certificate of Competence in Mammography
Experience

- Mammography experience in the Breast Screening Service or a Symptomatic Breast Service.
- Post qualification radiography experience.
- Evidence of continuing Professional Development
- Understanding of IRMER and IRR 2017

- Understanding of breast services
- Mammography experience post qualification
