Millview Court provides acute treatment to working-age adults who are experiencing mental health difficulties.
We are looking for individuals with an interest in working with people who have multiple challenges in their lives, including mental health problems and, at times, complex functional and social needs.
We want people who adapt to changing environments and who can be an active member of the MDT, promoting occupational therapy, being involved in clinical discussions and leading OT interventions both on the ward and in the community.
Millview Court is multidisciplinary focused, including: Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Health Care Assistants, Psychiatry, Medics and Administration professionals. The Occupational therapy team focuses on assessment of needs and identifying patient pathways, which includes supporting patient activity, social inclusion and contributing to smooth discharge planning for patients.
The post holder will work alongside a registered occupational therapist and activity worker.
Main duties of the job
- The successful applicant will support the occupational therapy team and wider team in carrying out assessments and effective interventions for a complex client group with a variety of mental health, sensory, physical, social, and environmental needs.
- You will be expected to work under minimal supervision and carry out assessments and treatment plans agreed with the lead occupational therapist.
- This may include delivering a range of individual activities to meet their identified aims.
- The post holder will plan and provide interventions tailored to the client group within the framework laid down by the OT and feed back to the OT and MDT accordingly. Interventions may include: daily living skills sessions, engagement in meaningful activities, routine-based skills, community skills, including graded exposure, regulation techniques, and social activities.
- We are looking for someone who is comfortable with people in distress and can utilise effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- The post holder will need to prioritise their own workload and use their initiative when working within a busy inpatient team.
- There may also be an opportunity to supervise junior staff and be involved in the education of students within the service.
