Principal Duties
Person-centred Healthcare
Provide person-centred, safe, and compassionate care in compliance with risk assessments and individual care plans.
At all times, uphold dignity, privacy, autonomy, choice, and respect.
Encourage service users to engage in daily activities and maximise their freedom.
Establish constructive and professional connections with service users, their families, and other professionals.
When the service user’s needs dictate it, and after completing a competency assessment and specialised training, you may perform assigned healthcare duties, such as but not restricted to:
- Help with personal hygiene, grooming, clothing, bathing, and washing.
- Enteral nutrition and PEG feeding.
- Oral suction.
- Management of seizures and epilepsy.
- Administer or help with medicine in compliance with training, care plans, and organisational policies.
- Pressure area maintenance.
- Keeping track of and documenting observations.
- Individual care plans identify additional healthcare interventions that have been delegated.
Individual Specification
Crucial
- Obtaining or pursuing an NVQ/QCF Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (or similar).
- Certificate of Care.
- Domiciliary care experience.
- Experience assisting individuals with learning impairments.
- Experience assisting individuals with physical limitations.
- Medication administration experience.
- Excellent reading and numeracy skills.
- Willingness to finish the Care Certificate, if not previously completed.
- Willingness to participate in required and specialised training related to the position.
Experience
- It is ideal to have prior experience dealing with children, those with disabilities, or the elderly.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Assisting clients with complicated care requirements.
- The capacity to establish and preserve professional connections while upholding proper limits.
- The capacity to operate both independently and collaboratively.
- The capacity to identify changes in a service user’s condition and appropriately report any concerns.
- The capacity to keep precise written documents.
- A solid grasp of professionalism and secrecy.
- Willingness to take competency tests and acquire new skills.
