An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Integrated Senior Support Worker team within the Urgent Community Response in Eastbourne, East Sussex

The successful candidates will be working with registered and non-registered colleagues in order to provide flexible and timely social care support to patients referred to the service. The post holders will be required to provide formal line management and supervision to designated Integrated Support Workers (ISW’s) within the team, and will support the shift co-ordinators with day-to-day operational management of the non-registered aspect of the Urgent Community Response.

Main duties of the job

We would welcome applications from registered and non-registered professionals who would like to develop their skills and experience assessing patients requiring social care support in their own homes. As a registered professional in this role, you would have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience with social care assessment practice and line-management of staff, while utilising your existing clinical skills as required to support the team.

The post holders will receive a comprehensive induction to the service in order to support their development into this role.

The service hours are 8am to 10pm, Monday to Sunday, and shift patterns offered with these posts are variable.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to ‘A’ level/NVQ 3 standard
  • Recognised IT qualification or evidence of equivalent IT training
  • Risk assessment training /experience
  • Proven CPD in a relevant health / social care context to diploma equivalent

Desirable

  • Relevant degree and/or clinical professional experience
  • Management qualification
  • NVQ2/3 in care or other relevant discipline

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a relevant caring or health profession
  • Experience of providing care/services to clients/patients
  • Experience in prioritising competing demands and planning own work
  • Some experience of staff supervision

Desirable

  • Experience of staff supervision/recruitment/training/ induction and appraisal
  • Assessment of patients’ / clients’ needs

Knowledge

Essential

  • Awareness of Health & Safety issues.
  • Understanding of good practice in relation to supporting clients/patients.
  • Understanding of local and National Care Standards and guidance.
  • Knowledge of guidance and national drivers in relation to Adult Social Care and Health.

Desirable

  • Health education and promotion
  • Understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children procedures.

Skills

Essential

  • Compliance with the standards in line with the Health and Care Professions Council code of conduct.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team or work on one’s own.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritise own and others’ workload, matching needs and skills.
  • Able to travel to various locations within the county.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care
  • Ability to demonstrate management and leadership skills
  • Ability to work flexibly
