Education and Qualifications

Essential

• 2:1 or above psychology degree. Entitlement to graduate membership of the British psychological Society

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

• Experience working with children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties. Understanding of psychological formulation and its application within clinical practice. Understanding of risk assessment and risk management in child and adolescent mental health settings. Understanding of child and adolescent development and factors influencing emotional wellbeing. Knowledge of safeguarding principles and multi-agency working. Understanding of equal opportunities, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice

Desirable

• Experience working within community CAMHS. Experience of paid work in direct care provision as an Assistant Psychologist. Experience delivering psychologically informed interventions under supervision. Experience contributing to audit, service evaluation or quality improvement projects. Experience working with young people presenting with complex needs or significant risk concerns.

• Ability to work collaboratively with young people, carers and professionals. Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information effectively. Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency systems. Strong written communication skills including clinical note keeping, report writing and professional correspondence.
