Description
TidalSense is a respiratory technology business focused on transforming the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of chronic respiratory diseases like asthma and COPD. The company is working to facilitate a population-scale change in respiratory care through global deployment of its technologies. TidalSense has introduced the first AI-powered (software medical device) diagnostic test for COPD, utilising the company’s own, patented sensor technology contained in the N-Tidal gadget.
We’re looking for a People Operations Manager with solid process management skills and comprehensive HR experience to assist us in sustainably scaling our operations. You will be part of a passionate, socially-motivated, multi-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists, physicians, designers, product, and usability experts. Purpose of Job
To manage and provide TidalSense’s people functions. This role will focus on the hands-on process management and execution of recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, employee incentive and benefits, learning and development, and HR compliance, efficiently supporting our staff as the company grows.
The role needs to blend organised process execution with a flexible, hands-on approach to balance compliance and efficiency, while remaining adaptable to the business’s evolving needs as it scales.
Principal Roles & Responsibilities
Coordination of Recruitment & Onboarding (50%)
- Coordinate line manager bottom-up resource requirements planning and SMT top-down requirements, including job descriptions and scoping.
- Handle all recruitment coordination with Workable, including posting jobs, screening candidates, and scheduling interviews.
- Source prospects proactively using LinkedIn Recruiter and be the key point of contact for external recruitment agencies.
- Arrange onboarding procedures and logistics (such as IT setup, system access, and induction/training schedules) to provide a seamless and positive experience for new employees.
Retention & Talent Management Admin (40%)
- Define and integrate culture at TidalSense – work with leadership to establish ideals and ways of working and convert them into practical structures.
- Facilitate performance review cycles and mid-year talent reviews.
- Do desk research and get market data for regular salary benchmarking activities to maintain competitive compensation.
- Manage company benefit plans in collaboration with TidalSense’s Finance team.
- Keep finger on the pulse of team morale, run business-wide engagement surveys, and organise internal team events like off-sites.
Employee Relations and Compliance (10%)
Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff records and personnel files in the HRIS, in complete compliance with UK employment law and TidalSense’s Quality Management System requirements.
Handle first-level employee relations (ER) questions and policy clarifications, escalating complex issues or formal grievances to higher leadership as appropriate.

Required:
- Handles sensitive personnel data with stringent confidentiality.
- Maintains a zero-gossip attitude and sets clear professional boundaries while creating warm, trusted connections across the team.
- Resilient, adaptive, and comfortable working in ambiguity, with shown success in establishing and iterating people processes in a fast-paced, high-growth setting.
- Ability to handle various administrative workflows, complex project timeframes, and hold line managers accountable across the recruitment and employee lifecycles.
- Approachable, sympathetic, professional. Able to support a varied, cross-functional team.
- Good functional understanding of UK employment law, conflict resolution, and core HR compliance.
Experience and Qualifications
Required:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in recruitment or an HR role.
- Experience scheduling interviews, organising calendars, and communicating with candidates.
- Hands-on experience of
- Running talent acquisition processes; or
- Handling Onboarding & Offboarding logistics; or
- HR processes administration.
- Ability to take ownership and work independently, and manage daily operations with little corporate support structure.
- Experience in a startup or scale-up setting.
Desired:
- CIPD level 3 or above.
- Talent acquisition experience or as a recruitment expert.
- Experience in Cambridge or in the medical / AI/tech ecosystems.

Must be able to work in person at the Cambridge office a minimum of 4 days/week.

Successful candidates will be appointed to this post at the appropriate grade in accordance with the experience on their CV and our judgment of their level of performance in the assessment process.
