Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Warwickshire Integrated Community Stroke service. The post is for an Occupational Therapy Technician in the North team and is fixed-term for 12 months.
This opportunity can be also be offered as a secondment.
The community post covers two distinct care pathways – active rehabilitation and neuro management. These pathways offer different intervention models to best meet the needs of stroke patients. As part of the multidisciplinary team in the community, you will need to be able to work independently within patients’ homes under distant supervision and have the ability to effectively prioritise and manage a demanding workload
The post holder will need to be able to plan and implement interventions using a knowledge of Occupational Therapy best practice and clinical reasoning, analysing contributing clinical, social, and environmental factors.
Enthusiastic and committed individuals are required with experience in stroke rehabilitation. You will be expected to develop effective therapeutic relationships with the patients, liaising with carers, MDT, and external agencies regularly, and therefore will require excellent communication skills. You will be expected to provide effective service delivery and meet recognised professional standards, therapy pathways, and best practice to deliver the business objectives in line with the Trust’s policies and service protocols.
Main duties of the job
- To provide an effective service delivery within the speciality.
- To work autonomously and manage an agreed caseload of patients under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, meeting the needs of a wide range of patient conditions, behaviours and physical requirements.
- To follow the recognised professional standards, the agreed therapy pathway and best practice in your designated area of speciality under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.

Essential
- Obtained an educational level of GCSE level A – C English and Maths or equivalent
- Minimum Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent higher apprenticeship
- Care Certificate or willingness to work towards attaining it
Experience

- Experience of working in a healthcare or educational environment
- Experience of working within a team

- Experience of working with children and young people with developmental needs or disabilities.
