We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Community Consultant Paediatrician to join our friendly community paediatrics team based at Chalk Hill Primary Care Centre in Brent, North West London on a sessional basis. Our clinics are delivered either at Wembley Centre for Health or Willesden Centre for Health. This post is a sessional post on Bank and does not include SPA time. The successful post holder will not be expected to provide Child Protection cover, clinical or education supervision.
This post is for 8PAs. Candidates are expected to be on the GMC Specialist Register in paediatrics with CCT/CCST in Community Paediatrics, or to be UK specialist trainees within 6 months of CCT/CCST/CESR at the date of interview. The successful applicant will join our team in providing ‘great care closer to home’.
Please Note: The attached job plan in the job description is provided as an example for a 10 PA role; however, the position being advertised is for 8 Pas and does not include SPA/CS/ES or CP cover time.
Main duties of the job
The Brent Community Paediatric Team sits within Brent Children’s Clinical Services Unit (CSU) alongside other specialist services including Children’s Community Nursing, Special School Nursing, Looked After Children, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy as well as universal services such as School Nursing and Health Visiting.
The post holder will be expected to work as part of the multidisciplinary team, covering responsibilities related to Clinical Activities (e.g. General and Specialist CDT clinics, triaging referrals, MDT clinical discussions or meetings and possibly EHCP medical assessments) with appropriate clinical administration time and support.

Education/Qualification
Essential
- MBBS, MRCPCH, Completed Postgraduate Medical Training (CCT in the relevant specialty)
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice
- On the GMC’s Specialist Register OR within six months of CCT at time of scheduled interview
- Capable of working at Consultant level in Community Child Health
- Current and full registration with the appropriate professional body
- Satisfactory Appraisal within the last 12 months (or within the most recent 12 months of work, if currently on a career break)
- A positive recommendation for revalidation where appropriate. Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
- Higher degree e.g. MSc, MD or other higher degree

- Experience of job planning, medical appraisals and revalidation for medical workforce
- Experience in case management and/or case investigation
- Experience and evidence of effective chairing skills, facilitation and conflict resolution ability
- Experience in the assessment, development and delivery of clinical education
- Valid APLS and NLS (this may be mandatory for some posts).
