We are searching for a loving, reliable, and proactive Support Worker with a calm, patient, and dependable approach to join our pleasant team supporting persons with learning impairments and complex needs in our small, independent residential care home in Fordham.

Who We Are
- We are a small, independent social care organisation in Colchester, Fordham.
- We are a residential care home, supporting 8 persons with learning disabilities:
- Our large bungalow, ‘The Conifers,’ has a stunning yard and heated outdoor pool and is home to 5 clients.
- We have 2 clients living in our new self-contained independent flats who each need 1:1 help for their complicated needs.
- Applicants must be flexible and willing to perform a mix of day and night shifts, in keeping with the needs of the service.
Job Openings
We have an opening for a full-time permanent support worker.
The position will comprise a mixture of day shifts and on-call overnight shifts, as dictated by service need and rota necessity. Applicants must be flexible and willing to work daylight hours and work night hours when required.
Working Pattern
It can take a day and a night. The precise shift pattern will be discussed during the interview and confirmed in writing as part of the offer of employment.
Principal Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care such as bathing, clothing, and daily living tasks.
- Provide companionship, emotional support and increase the quality of life of clients.
- Assist clients with mobility and physical activities, appointments and social events.
- Transport clients to appointments, community activities, and trips, as required, utilising business vehicles.
- Promote dignity, independence, choice, and person-centred support at all times.
- Support people with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) techniques and implement behaviour support plans.
- Communicate with health care experts, families, and coworkers in a way that supports holistic care.
- Supporting clients safely in their own homes and in the community. Making proper risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress, wellbeing, care & support offered.
- Participate in learning and continuous education possibilities.
You About
- You must be over the age of 18 to apply.
- Full UK driving licence necessary, no public transit, and staff expected to drive business vehicles.
- Previous experience working in the care sector is needed, ideally with persons with learning difficulties.
- Confident, responsible, and able to work independently, use initiative, and make proper risk assessments.
- Caring, adaptable, and eager, with a real commitment to supporting persons with learning difficulties.
