Join an established team of trainees participating in a comprehensive ST3+ training programme in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine.
-
Develop specialist expertise in perioperative medicine, particularly the assessment and management of high-risk surgical patients.
-
Conduct preoperative assessments and participate in weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
-
Provide anaesthesia for major, elective and emergency surgical procedures.
-
Participate in full-shift rotas for the Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
-
Take part in clinical audits, research, teaching and professional training.
-
Maintain mandatory and statutory training requirements in line with Royal Free Trust policies.
-
Work towards completing the Advanced Training Module in Perioperative Medicine in accordance with Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) guidance.
-
Suitable for doctors seeking a CT3-equivalent post, a Stage 1 training extension, an Out of Programme for Experience (OOPE) opportunity or post-Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) experience.
Requirements

Hold an MBBS degree or an equivalent medical qualification.

Have current General Medical Council (GMC) registration.
-
Possess substantial anaesthesia experience at CT1/CT2 level or equivalent and above.

Demonstrate strong written and spoken English communication skills.

Ideally have experience working in intensive care medicine.

Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Show empathy and the ability to support patients from diverse backgrounds with compassion, dignity and respect.

Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues at all organisational levels.

Desirable qualifications and experience:

Primary FRCA MCQ and SOE, or equivalent qualifications.

Final FRCA SAQ and SOE, or equivalent qualifications.

Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.

Experience with Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathways.

Experience managing general emergency admissions and acute pain.
-
Evidence of clinical experience through an anaesthesia logbook.

Participation in research and clinical audit projects.

Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
