Join a specialist team of speech and language therapists providing services across the Trust’s adult mental health wards.
-
Deliver high-quality speech and language therapy to adults experiencing mental health conditions, dementia and other complex needs.

Manage a varied caseload involving dementia, acquired neurological conditions, learning disabilities, neurodiversity and mental health conditions.
-
Conduct specialist assessments and provide appropriate interventions for people with communication difficulties and swallowing disorders.

Support ward staff to improve their skills and competencies in identifying and managing patients’ communication and swallowing needs.
-
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including professionals in social care, primary care and specialist secondary services.

Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based care pathways.

Work with and receive clinical support from experienced speech and language therapists, including the Principal Speech and Language Therapist.

Support student speech and language therapists where opportunities arise.

Be based at Langley Green Hospital, with occasional travel to other sites for meetings and training.
Requirements
-
Hold a recognised degree, master’s qualification or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy.

Have current Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration and a valid licence to practise.

Be a registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

Have completed specialist short courses related to dementia or mental health.
-
Hold a post-basic qualification in dysphagia.

Possess postgraduate experience as a speech and language therapist working with adults with acquired conditions.

Have significant postgraduate experience managing complex caseloads involving communication difficulties and dysphagia.

Have experience working under the supervision of a clinical specialist in dementia or mental health.

Demonstrate experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Be able to assess complex communication and swallowing needs and plan appropriate interventions.

Demonstrate effective communication, teamwork and clinical decision-making skills.

Be willing to travel to other Trust sites when required.

Pass the required Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
