We are looking for a permanent Assistant Psychologist to join the Thought-Full team across West Sussex.
MHSTs were developed following the 2017 Green Paper – Transforming Children and Young People’s Mental Health Provision. We have three core functions:
1) To deliver evidence-based interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties
2) To support schools to develop their whole school approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing
3) To provide timely advice to school/ college staff to ensure that young people get the right support at the right time
At the heart of our work is participation, co-production and co-delivery, ensuring the voice of children and young people is heard throughout our service.
We are an innovative integrated model with Thought-Full being delivered across both Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and the Education and Skills department of West Sussex County Council.
Main duties of the job
- The Thought-Full team comprises a range of professionals including Education Mental Health Practitioners, Mental Health Practitioners, Advisory Teachers, Educational Psychologists and Clinical Psychologists. You will work alongside all members of the team but most closely with the Clinical Psychologist and Educational Psychologists who will determine the day-to-day tasks.
- A significant part of the role will be supporting the data collection in the team in order to help us evaluate the effectiveness of our work. This will include evaluation of our interventions and whole school approach work. You will support the collection, input, analysis and reporting of the data. Therefore, an interest in research and evaluation is important for this role.
- You will also support the implementation of our core functions. For example, supporting the implementation of CBT-Based group interventions, psychoeducation groups for children and young people and their parents/carers, workshops and training for school staff, preparing resources, engagement workshops and activities, and reviewing evidence-informed practice and more.
- You will also be supporting the development of our service as we grow and expand, working alongside other team members to liaise with other services to consider how we support the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people in West Sussex.
