Table of Contents
- Provide person-centred care to clients in their own homes.
- Support elderly people, people with disabilities, and clients requiring dementia/Alzheimer’s, hospice or behavioural care.
- Assist with daily activities, including:
- Personal hygiene
- Dressing
- Mobility
- Administer medication according to prescribed procedures.
- Prepare nutritious meals based on clients’ dietary requirements.
- Perform light housekeeping to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Drive clients to appointments or social activities when required.
- Monitor clients’ health and report concerns to healthcare professionals.
- Support appropriate physical activities/exercises to maintain mobility and wellbeing.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and provide basic first aid where required.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of domiciliary-care experience — required.
- Previous experience in home care, nursing homes or assisted living is desirable.
- Knowledge of:
- Patient care
- Dementia and Alzheimer’s care
- Hospice care
- Elderly/senior care
- Valid driving licence — required.
- Access to a vehicle — required/asked as an application question.
- Ability to drive safely between different client locations.
- Strong caregiving skills and a compassionate attitude.
- Ability to support clients of different ages, including children and elderly people.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to manage behavioural challenges.
- Good organisational skills, particularly for medication and care documentation.
- Flexibility to work varied hours according to client needs.
- English language — required.
- First Aid/Basic Life Support certification is advantageous.
