We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Education Lead to join our Public Health Service and drive excellence in learning, development, and professional practice.

This exciting role will lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality education programmes, ensuring staff have access to training that supports evidence-based practice and meets professional and regulatory standards. Working collaboratively across services, you will promote a positive learning culture, support apprentices, students, Practice Supervisors and Assessors, and help deliver outstanding learning experiences.

You will play a key role in implementing NICE guidance, developing workforce policies, competency frameworks, and quality improvement initiatives. The post also includes supporting the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) training programme through recruitment and university.

As a senior practitioner and role model, you will provide specialist educational leadership, influence practice development, and contribute to high-quality, person-centred care. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about developing people and shaping the future workforce.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate education and training programmes that promote evidence-based practice and compliance with national and local policies.
  • Provide guidance and assurance on the quality and standards of training delivered within the service and to external partners.
  • Review new and updated NICE guidance and relevant research, identifying implications for practice and supporting implementation of changes.
  • Contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures, and guidance relating to practice development, workforce education, and staff competence.
  • Support competency assessment processes, including providing independent assessment and review when concerns regarding competence have been identified.
  • Promote a culture of reflective practice, continuous learning, and professional development across the workforce.
  • Create and maintain positive learning environments for apprentices, students, trainees, and qualified practitioners.
  • Coordinate and support Practice Assessors and Practice Supervisors, ensuring they are appropriately prepared and maintain the competencies required for their roles.
  • Support the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) training programme, including recruitment activities, liaison with education providers, and support for practice assessors and supervisors.

Person Specification

Qualifications, training and experience

Essential

  • You’ll need to have a Level 6 Degree in Nursing or Midwifery as well as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse with a Health Visiting Qualification
  • Proven ability to work effectively within your area of practice, supported by relevant experience. As well as managing complex caseloads and supporting/ mentoring others
  • You will be a Registered Nurse or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, with a current registration.

Knowledge and skills

Essential

  • You will need to be able to use IT systems and databases.
  • You will understand where to signpost clients and families to alternative services to support behaviour change and improve health
  • You will have knowledge of up-to-date clinical practice by using up- to- date skills and adhering to evidence-based procedures and clinical effectiveness frameworks. You will fully understand the role and remit of a health care worker.

Desirable

  • Having an awareness of developments within the NHS would be an advantage as well as an understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance

Working environment

Essential

  • A full, valid UK driving licence or a full driving licence issued by an EU country (not exchanged from a non-EU country) and the ability to travel independently are essential for this role.
