Main duties of the job

• Deliver high-quality CT and/or MRI imaging, ensuring safe, efficient and patient-centred examinations across both Musgrove Park Hospital and the brand new Bridgwater Community Diagnostic Centre.
• Rotate through our state-of-the-art CDC, working with the latest scanners and streamlined pathways to support faster diagnosis and improved patient access.
• Use advanced clinical skills to plan, perform and adapt a wide range of cross-sectional imaging examinations, making real-time decisions to optimise image quality.
• Cannulate patients and administer contrast safely in line with PGDs and Trust protocols.
• Prioritise and coordinate daily workflow, ensuring smooth patient throughput and effective use of scanner time.
• Work autonomously within a supportive team, contributing to extended hours and on-call services as required.
• Support and mentor junior radiographers, students and support staff, helping to build skills and confidence within the team.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, relatives and colleagues, ensuring excellent patient experience throughout the imaging pathway.
• Contribute to service development through audit, quality improvement projects and the implementation of best practice.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• DCR or BSc in radiography.
• HPC registered.

Desirable

• Trained to undertake IV cannulation and administer contrast media.
• Postgraduate qualification in CT or MRI scanning

Experience

Essential

• Experience of working in the NHS
• Experience in CT or MRI scanning

Desirable

• Minimum 2 years postgraduate experience.
• Experience of working in a busy imaging department, providing a full range of imaging.

• Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative.
