Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the fantastic Older Adults Mental Health Team serving the Bridgend area within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. The post holder will join two other consultant colleagues providing a service to the local population. The Liaison and Care Home In-reach Team is based in the Princess of Wales Hospital, and your main base will be in Princess of Wales Hospital, Coity Road, Bridgend, CF31 1RQ.

Main duties of the job

• Implementation of the Mental Health Act and associated duties.
• Liaison and collaboration with colleagues from the Directorate and beyond – including other organisations, Local Authorities and the third sector.
• Supervision of team members as appropriate, taking a full part in referral handling and team meetings.
• Taking on much of the clinical leadership of the team, working closely with other senior professionals.
• The management of complex cases, providing leadership and specialist advice to colleagues across the team.
• Triaging new referrals and signposting to the most appropriate person to undertake initial assessment.

Assessment, diagnosis and formulation of management plans for patients.

• Gweithredu Deddf Iechyd Meddwl a dyletswyddau cysylltiedig.
• Cysylltu a chydweithio chydweithwyr o’r Gyfarwyddiaeth a thu hwnt – gan gynnwys sefydliadau eraill, Awdurdodau Lleol a’r trydydd sector.
• Goruchwylio aelodau’r tm yn l yr angen, gan gymryd rhan lawn yn y broses o drin atgyfeiriadau a chyfarfodydd tm.
• Cymryd llawer o arweinyddiaeth glinigol y tm, gan weithio’n agos gydag uwch weithwyr proffesiynol eraill.
• Rheoli achosion cymhleth, gan ddarparu arweinyddiaeth a chyngor arbenigol i gydweithwyr ar draws y tm.
• Brysbennu atgyfeiriadau newydd a’u cyfeirio at y person mwyaf priodol i gynnal yr asesiad cychwynnol.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Full GMC Registration
• MRCPsych or equivalent
• On Specialist Register for Old Age Psychiatry or be within six months of the anticipated CCT/CESR date
• S.12(2) approval or be in a position to achieve that
• Approved Clinician approval or be in the position to achieve that

Desirable

• Relevant equivalent clinical qualification
• Welsh Approved Clinician approval

Experience

Essential

• Higher training experience in general adult psychiatry

Desirable

• Experience of acting as Responsible Clinician
