We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative, and progressive Consultant to join our Interventional Radiology Consultant team.
The appointee will cover all sites during the on-call. Applications are welcomed from candidates with FRCR (or equivalent) who are on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register in Radiology or who will be within six months of obtaining their CCT at the time of interview. In addition, applicants should demonstrate within their application that they are fully trained in the generality of Radiology.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be expected to contribute to the IR service and to take part in the training and supervision of junior radiologists allocated to the Department.
We provide a full range of non-vascular interventional radiology services at City and Sandwell Health Campus at present. There are excellent relationships with clinical teams in many specialities, with a well-established pattern of cooperative working. We have a large uterine artery embolization service as well as a service for renal ablation. We are a major renal stone centre in addition to providing acute services to most other specialities. There is an expectation of return of vascular services and working at the Black Country Hub.

Essential
- Entry on the Specialist Register in radiology (or entry expected within 6 months from the date of interview)
- FRCR or equivalent

- Higher Degree
Clinical Experience
Essential
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining CCT in radiology
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the management of acute medical emergencies
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients
Desirable
- Non-vascular interventional radiology
- Special interest that complements the existing consultants
Management and Administrative Experience
Essential
- Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures.
- Ability to motivate and develop the multi-disciplinary team, balancing departmental and personal objectives.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
