Job Summary

Part-time children’s support worker, temporary to be reviewed in September 2026 when permanent hours may become available.

Driver required? Yes, essential

Use of a car? Yes, on duty, an automatically adapted vehicle

Essential: Experience supporting a young child with cerebral palsy, and a non-smoker/vaper

Start Date:  ASAP

Days & Hours  Rotas are done three months in advance.  Shifts to be covered are:

Term time 

Week 1 – 35 hours

Week 2 – 19.5 hours

Week 3 – 19.5 hours

Week 4 – 35 hours

Including two weekends a month, 7am to 7pm Saturday and Sunday

School holidays 

5 x 12-hour shifts  a week, 7am – 7pm

£25 payment is made for any shifts picked up with less than 24 hours’ notice due to sickness, etc.

There are two staff on shift at all times.

Overview of role:

My client is an 8-year-old boy who is intellectually very able.  He communicates using both high-tech and low-tech communication devices.  He attends a mainstream school with two-to-one support.  Home-based carers do not support him at school.  He has two to one support to accommodate his moving and handling needs.  There is a well-established therapy team that provides training on all aspects of his care.

You will have the opportunity to support the client with therapy activities, his learning, undertaking fun activities, and with all aspects of personal care, ensuring all his care needs are met.
