Job Description

Weavers Lodge in Castle Cary provides a caring, friendly and inspiring home for up to 8 people with learning disabilities, complex behavioural requirements and additional diagnoses including Autism, mental health disorders and communication difficulties.

What you will do in the Support Worker role

As a Support Worker, you will be key to helping people live their best lives. You will be providing compassionate, person-centred support in all areas of everyday living:

Support Daily Living: Assist residents with personal care, food, routines and day-to-day duties – always with dignity and respect.

Encourage Independence: Teach life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and confidence-building to enable individuals to reach their personal goals.

Communication & Emotional Wellness: The persons we help may use communication methods that others may find problematic at times. Offering emotional support, consistency, and working to satisfy people’s needs to lessen times of distress.

Teamwork: Collaborate with co-workers, families and professionals to provide continuous excellent care.

As we help persons with complex needs, we do expect candidates to have past experience working with clients who demonstrate challenging conduct.

Knowledge of Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) is desirable, but training will be offered.

Salary Information

• Under 12 months’ experience in a similar environment* £14.25 per hour

12+ months’ experience in the same environment: £14.75ph

Experience of working in a similar healthcare/social care setting and experience of helping people with complex needs, challenging behaviours, autism and associated mental health conditions.

Day Shifts: 7:00 am – 2:30 pm or 2:30 pm – 10:00 pm
