Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, mainly Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work.
Salary: £25,760–£27,476 per year.

Role overview: Support the dermatology team in delivering direct clinical care to patients with skin conditions, working alongside consultants, specialist doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Support the assessment and care of patients living with skin diseases.

• Assist clinical staff with skin assessments and topical treatments.

• Support leg ulcer clinics, including leg dressing procedures.

• Assist with minor surgical procedures for diagnostic purposes and skin cancer investigations.

• Support phototherapy and photodynamic therapy services.

• Assist with patch testing, day-case clinics and phlebotomy clinics.

• Help maintain a positive patient experience by providing compassionate, respectful and empathetic care.

• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team.

• Protect patient confidentiality and maintain appropriate professional standards.

• Adapt to changing clinical situations and support the department during busy periods.

• Participate in in-house training and further professional development as required.

Requirements

• Essential qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Care, or NVQ Level 2 with equivalent experience.

• Essential experience: Previous experience working in a care setting, hospital ward or clinical department.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and interact professionally with the public.

• Basic IT skills.

• Good listening skills and the ability to adapt to different situations.

• Caring, empathetic and approachable manner.

• Motivation, flexibility, reliability and good timekeeping.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure.

• Ability to meet patients’ physical and emotional care needs.

• Desirable: Care Certificate, clinical skills, and evidence of personal or professional development.

• Previous dermatology experience is desirable but not essential, as in-house training will be provided.

• Willingness to undertake further training.
