• Main purpose: Provide a safe, welcoming and stimulating nursery environment that supports children’s physical, emotional, social and cognitive development through play and early-years education.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organise engaging activities that promote children’s learning and development.

• Supervise children during play, meals, naps and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety.

• Monitor children’s progress and maintain accurate records of attendance, development and daily routines.

• Communicate with parents and guardians about children’s progress, wellbeing and everyday activities.

• Support the delivery of early childhood education curricula and good nursery practices.

• Encourage positive behaviour, good manners, social interaction and independence.

• Work with colleagues to create an inclusive, supportive and stimulating learning environment.

• Adapt activities to children’s individual needs and developmental stages.

Requirements

• Experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting.

• Knowledge of early childhood education principles and child development.

• Relevant childcare qualifications, such as Level 2 or Level 3 Childcare, or an appropriate equivalent.

• Good English communication skills for interacting with children, parents and colleagues.

• Leadership or management skills in childcare or team supervision.

• Flexibility to meet the nursery’s operational needs.

• A driving licence is preferred but not essential.

• Commitment to children’s safety, wellbeing and development.
