We have an exciting opportunity available for an enthusiastic Psychology Graduate wanting to progress their career by contributing to the promotion of psychological, emotional, and behavioural wellbeing of adults with a learning disability residing in the Black Country. The fixed-term role available is varied, rewarding, and an opportunity to work as part of an MDT alongside psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and psychiatry colleagues.
Based in Oldbury, the successful candidate will deliver 1:1, groupwork, and systemically informed evidence-based interventions for individuals with learning disabilities and their support networks. They will also be responsible for conducting neuropsychological assessments as part of our Dementia screenings. There are opportunities to get involved in service development projects, and we have excellent support for aspiring psychologists, providing regular trust-wide reflective practice and CPD opportunities. You will be supervised by a Clinical Psychologist and will also regularly work alongside trainee psychologists on placement.
Main duties of the job
- To administer standardised psychological assessments of clients and collect assessment data from a variety of sources.
- Responsible for recognising the potential for or signs of client harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking all reasonable steps to protect the client. Responsible for identifying and reporting concerns regarding the safeguarding of individuals who may be at risk.
- Under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, supports the development of psychological formulation and intervention plans for individual clients and/or their carers. Negotiates the implementation of such plans with clients and/or their carers.
- Under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, implements psychological interventions for individual clients, carers, families, and groups.
- Under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, to develop resources and materials to support the delivery of the service.
- To maintain appropriate records by adding to the patient’s clinical notes and to provide written reports of psychological assessments and interventions.
- To contribute to service audit and development.
