Job duties: Providing compassionate patient care, assisting with personal hygiene, feeding, fluid intake, dressing, toileting and maintaining patient comfort.

Requirements: Moving and Handling (M&H) Certificate, Basic Life Support Certification, and evidence of practical training or education in a care environment.

Experience: Prior experience in a health care setting or relevant experience.

Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (RQF certified) or NHS England accredited Care Certificate with evidence of full completion of the knowledge and job based assessments / relevant experience.

Main Tasks of the Position

Healthcare Assistants. Our Healthcare Assistants are overseen by a Registered Nurse and perform assigned duties in the direct care of patients. You will be an integrated member of the ward team, aiding with nursing procedures in line with established policies.

You will always maintain the patient’s dignity and self-respect and achieve a high standard of care.

Our Healthcare Assistants have an allotted base-ward but work in different places of the hospital as required.

You will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of care is delivered and will always be promoting: patient safety, effective care and a pleasant patient experience at each point of the patient’s journey.

Healthcare Assistants are expected to work a mixture of days, nights and weekends including Bank Holidays and Christmas Day.

Working Shifts

• Early: 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
• Late: 12.15 to 20.15hrs
• Night: 19:45hrs until 07:45hrs
• Long Day: 07:15hrs till 20:15hrs

Duties of the Position

We will give you with everything you need to deliver great patient care.

In your work you will aid patients with:

• Their personal hygiene needs including bed bath and bathroom bathing.
• Choosing from menu and helping to feed.
• Encouragement to drink regularly and to record fluid intake.
• Putting on and taking off clothes.
• Toileting and accompanying them to and from the toilet.
• Their beds, cleaned and cosy.

The role of a Healthcare Assistant is vital to our wards and you will have the opportunity to provide compassionate care and reassurance to our patients.

Role Profile and Requirements

Significant
