Description

• Build the Solve shared visual workspace and real-time collaborative canvas
• Ship frontend code in the canvas and collaboration layer
• Work closely with the technical lead, architect, and QA
• Implement canvas interactions including pan, zoom, drag, selection, spatial layout, and rich interactive cards
• Keep the canvas performant with hundreds of live cards
• Manage frontend state across transient interaction, persistent product state, and server-authoritative data
• Implement real-time collaboration features including presence, optimistic updates, reconnects, missed-event recovery, and conflict handling
• Own client-side Server-Sent Events handling, including EventSource, heartbeats, token-authenticated streams, and backoff reconnects
• Help determine where WebSockets should be used
• Build AI-facing surfaces for streaming output, agent status, partial results, approvals, and recovery
• Ensure performance, accessibility, and testing strategy
• Implement the per-entity patch wire over SSE
• Add optimistic apply with resync on missed events
• Build a pending-edits queue that survives reloads
• Resolve data-loss defects across load, save-conflict, and live-update paths
• Prototype, simplify, and maintain legible systems with specs, designs, and tests

Requirements

• Senior frontend engineering experience
• Deep React (or equivalent) expertise
• Strong browser-state expertise
• Experience building complex interactive products such as a canvas, editor, map, design tool, whiteboard, or collaborative app
• Understanding of state ownership, rendering, browser performance, component decomposition, and failure-prone interactions
• Experience with collaborative software authority and conflict rules
• Experience shipping real-time event handling over WebSockets or Server-Sent Events
• Understanding of event ordering, reconnects, and missed-event recovery on unreliable connections
• Familiarity with coding agents and AI-native frontend problems
• Ability to design API request and response shapes with backend teams
• Understanding of idempotency and optimistic concurrency
• Ability to decide which side owns a given piece of state
• Technical familiarity with monorepos, CI, quality gates, feature flags, and design systems is useful
• Ability to work in the UK
• Contract availability for 3 months
