Summary of the Job
We are looking for a highly organised and energetic Logistics Manager to oversee our supply chain operations and enhance our logistics strategies. In this key function, you will manage the coordination of transportation, warehouse, and materials handling activities to ensure the smooth delivery of items. You will drive process improvements, increased efficiencies, and high standards of safety and quality throughout all logistics functions. This role provides an excellent chance to impact our logistics strategy and contribute to the overall success of our organization.
Accountabilities
- Develop and implement logistics strategies that support organisational goals with an emphasis on efficiency, cost savings and service quality.
- Operate transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS) to facilitate shipping, receiving, inventory control and order fulfilment procedures.
- Manage third-party logistics providers (3PL) to achieve or exceed contractual obligations and performance standards
- Arrange shipping and receiving activities such as scheduling shipments, checking documents, and resolving any inconsistencies or delays
- Lead process improvement projects by analysing data, identifying bottlenecks and applying best practices across the supply chain.
- Manage warehouse activities including materials handling, picking & packaging, forklift operations, and inventory management to optimise productivity and accuracy
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs), create reports and assist strategic decision-making using ERP systems including AS400 and other data analysis tools
Prerequisites
- Demonstrated experience in logistics management with a solid grasp of supply chain fundamentals and warehouse operations
- Knowledge of category management approaches for optimising product grouping and stock levels
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), warehousing management systems (WMS), ERP platforms like AS400 and associated software tools
- Familiarity with goods handling equipment including forklifts, certifications desirable
- Excellent data analytic skills to evaluate operational KPIs and identify possibilities for process improvement
- Meticulous attention to detail in shipping & receiving procedures and inventory correctness with strong organisational skills
- Ability to effectively lead teams and promote a safety-minded work environment
