PROSPER (PeRinatal emotiOnal skillS Personality disordER) is an NIHR-EME randomised controlled trial (RCT) investigating the efficacy of online perinatal Emotional Skills Groups (ESGs) (in addition to usual care (UC)) for women and birthing parents with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). The overall sample size is 216 participants recruited from at least seven centres in England.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to carry out clinical and non-clinical study activities related to the project that they are working on. They will liaise with the central study team at the University of Bristol. They will be based within the Perinatal Mental Health Service and be fully integrated into the team. They will be managed by Dr Janice Rigby, the local Principal Investigator for Prosper, and will have regular contact with the study team. The post holder will be expected to liaise with clinicians within the Trust to support the recruitment of participants.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A First-class or Upper-second-class Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Psychology that is accredited by the British Psychological Society and confers the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society

Experience

Essential

  • Prior experience of working on mental health research
  • Evidence of involvement in clinical and research governance
  • Experience of administrative work including data management
  • Experience working in an NHS environment with service user contact
  • Professional familiarity with clinical settings, such as mental health and/or social care practice and terminology

Desirable

  • Prior experience of working on a randomised controlled trial
  • Understanding of the service users of the Trust (which could include lived experience of conditions the Trust deals with or of receiving services relevant to those the Trust provides)

Knowledge/Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience of research methodology and statutory clinical trial regulation and GCP
  • Understanding of Confidentiality & Data Protection
  • Knowledge of medical or medical research terminology
  • Demonstrated depth and breadth of specialist knowledge of subject matter to effectively contribute to the research programme
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload to meet required deadlines

Desirable

  • Awareness of latest developments in the field of research
