• Salary: £59,306.05 per year, including shift premium.

• Purpose: Maintain and improve manufacturing equipment to ensure reliable, efficient production of Walkers crisps.

• Working pattern: Continental shift system of 4 days on and 4 days off, averaging 42 hours per week.

• Shift hours: 12-hour rotating day shifts (07:00–19:00) and night shifts (19:00–07:00), including weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical and electro-mechanical maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.

• Follow safety procedures and maximise productive maintenance time.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle.

• Provide feedback to planners and management to improve maintenance schedules, frequencies and spare-parts planning.

• Perform quality checks before and after maintenance activities.

• Manage lubrication mapping, lubrication tasks and the rationalisation of lubricants.

• Train autonomous maintenance teams in equipment knowledge, basic cleaning, inspection, lubrication and fault diagnosis.

• Lead root cause analysis sessions to identify and resolve recurring equipment problems.

• Maintain high standards of 5S (workplace organisation, cleanliness and efficiency) across the plant.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering apprenticeship, supported by practical, hands-on experience.

• A recognised electrical academic qualification.

• Strong electrical and electro-mechanical knowledge.

• Familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

• Good understanding of industrial equipment and relevant technical standards.

• Strong commitment to safety, quality and equipment performance.

• Effective problem-solving and fault-diagnosis skills.

• Good communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues across maintenance and production teams.
