Are you looking to get more experience as a Paediatric Dietitian and want to join a dynamic, forward-thinking team within a tertiary children’s hospital?

We are a large, friendly department of Dietitians, supported by Dietetic Support Workers, Special Feed Unit staff and administration staff. You will have a fantastic opportunity to gain a broad experience in paediatric dietetics.

The post will be within the Band 6 rotational posts which include: neurology, ketogenic diet, gastroenterology, BMT and oncology, general medicine, renal, cardiology, surgery, burns, diabetes and community. The successful candidate will work within one of these specialities during each rotation. We also have a rapidly growing outpatient service which includes: feeding problems, faltering growth, allergy and complex needs which the successful candidate would support.

Fast track band 5-6 will be considered dependent upon experience.

Main duties of the job

The Paediatric Dietitian provides a comprehensive hospital and outpatient service which includes relevant education and/or training to all healthcare professionals, carers and other workers involved in the care of the referred child.

The Paediatric Dietitian undertakes any other reasonable duties, which may be identified in consultation with the Specialist Paediatric Dietitian and the Head of Paediatric Dietetics

You ideally should have at least one-year’s paediatric experience or have a good grounding in dietetics. However, we will also consider experienced adult Dietitians who have a passion to learn paediatrics within a tertiary unit. You must be enthusiastic and flexible. Additionally, you must be a good communicator and team worker who can self-direct your learning quickly. You should be computer literate.

Our department is committed to student training, quality improvement, research and audit. We pride ourselves on our commitment to continuing professional development. All Band 6 staff are led and supervised by a Band 7 or Band 8 Advanced Specialist Dietitian.
