Senior Carer (Skilled Worker Visa)
Summary of the Position
The role is to offer care and support to elderly and vulnerable people with learning problems and/or mental health concerns within the community. Full training induction and support will be provided before commencing work.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
- Ensure the service meets and exceeds CQC requirements and the LA contract specification.
- Take full responsibility, in cooperation with the service manager, for all elements of the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring service users are provided with secure, caring, stimulating and homely surroundings to fulfil their social and health requirements.
- To keep safe the people who use the services in our care.
- Provide hands-on day-to-day help to the service users. Maintain and always deliver a high grade of service.
- Help care users dress, undress, bathe and toilet.
- Help care users with mobility problems and other physical limitations, e.g. incontinence.
- Help with the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
- Responsible for ordering, receiving, disposing of and correctly administering medication and maintaining records.
- Utilise resources effectively.
- Supervision of junior workers where appropriate.
- Performs any other duties as may be properly assigned by the Supervisor.
- Help to encourage mental and physical activity of care users by conversing with them, taking them out and sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
- Change and make mattresses, tidy rooms, light cleaning.
- Prepare light meals.
- Serve meals.
- Help care users at mealtimes if necessary.
- Wash up utensils.
- Write and read reports in case notes.
- Support the development of care plans to meet the needs and wishes of service users as a Senior Keyworker.
- If a care user needs help, contact healthcare professionals and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Participate in staff meetings and training activities as directed.
- Take responsibility for their own professional growth through continuing mandated training and e-learning courses.
- Follow the Code of Conduct for Social Care Workers.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Minimum of A Level (or equivalent) credentials.
- Have experience or qualifications in the health or social care sector.
- Be loving and caring.
- Must possess a valid current driving licence to use in the UK.
- Good Communication Skills (written & verbal) and Proficient in English.
- Ideally hold an NVQ Level 3 or comparable vocational qualifications in a health/social care-related subject.
- Competencies may be achieved through applicable continuing training and development activities.
- Good time management abilities.
- Be able to do multitasking.
- Be good at solving problems.
