We are looking for a Cyber Security Analyst to join our Cyber Security Team and help protect the digital services that support care across Newcastle Hospitals. This is a varied operational role for someone who enjoys analysing technical issues, improving security controls and working with people across a large and complex NHS organisation.
You will bring practical cyber security experience, broad technical knowledge and a calm, analytical approach to investigating risk and responding to incidents. You will be comfortable working independently, communicating technical issues clearly and helping teams turn security requirements into practical action.
The role offers the opportunity to work across a wide technology estate, contribute to the continued development of the Trust’s cyber security capability and build experience across security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, assurance and cyber improvement. If you want a role where your work directly supports the resilience of NHS services, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution.
Main duties of the job

Key areas of responsibility include:
- Reviewing security alerts, system reports and technical information to identify, assess and escalate potential threats, vulnerabilities and control weaknesses.
- Supporting the investigation and coordination of cyber security incidents, including containment, recovery, documentation and lessons learned.
- Working with technical teams to improve security across endpoints, servers, networks, cloud services and other infrastructure.
- Supporting vulnerability management, security assessments, audit activity and evidence gathering to support regulatory obligations such as NHS DSPT, CAF, Cyber Essentials, and other security frameworks.
- Providing clear cyber security advice and practical support to technical and non-technical colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders.
- Contributing to operational security procedures, policies, reporting and improvement activity.
- Producing and presenting cyber security metrics, trends and risk information to support informed decision-making.
You will need strong analytical, communication and organisational skills, together with the confidence to manage your own workload, work across teams and make sound decisions within established policies and procedures.
