Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, accredited CBT Psychotherapist to join Birmingham Healthy Minds as a Locality Clinical Lead within an NHS Talking Therapies service. This senior clinical leadership role offers the opportunity to combine direct clinical work with clinical leadership, supervision, consultation, service development and quality improvement within a large NHS Talking Therapies service in the country.

You will play a pivotal role in strengthening clinical practice across the stepped care model, providing supervision, consultation and support to clinicians, trainees and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure safe, effective and formulation-led care. Working closely with senior clinical and operational leaders, you will contribute to the achievement of key service priorities, including reliable recovery, reliable improvement, access, waiting time standards and clinical governance requirements. The role also provides the opportunity to influence service development, workforce development and integrated care pathways through collaboration with primary care, secondary care and voluntary sector partners.

Main duties of the job

To be a part of the BHM Management Team, to provide specialist assessment and psychological therapy to patients from the BHM NHS Talking Therapies Service. To act as a locality clinical lead by strengthening the clinical delivery of NICE-compliant interventions across the stepped care model in their locality, by providing supervision, consultation and support to NHS Talking Therapies clinical staff within the designated locality. Along with operational and senior clinical leads, each locality lead will be responsible for supporting local performance against Service targets within their defined geographical area, with locality leads deputising for other locality leads as required to ensure safe, effective and consistent clinical leadership together with senior service clinical leads across the wider service footprint.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Experience, skills & knowledge, personal qualities

Essential

• Postgraduate accredited training & qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and fully accredited with the BABCP as a CBT therapist/practitioner
• Completion of the IAPT/NHS Talking Therapies supervision course
• Significant experience of working with a variety of client groups and presenting problems, including co-morbidities, that reflect a range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.
• Experience of providing supervision to clinical staff, including NHS TT clinical staff.
• Specialism in an area of practice within NHS Talking Therapies, supported by additional education or experience.
• Able to work specified work hours for the service including a specified pattern of evening and/or weekend shifts.

Desirable

• Doctoral level training & qualification in clinical or counselling psychology accredited by the BPS (British Psychological Society) and fully registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist
• BABCP CBT supervisor accreditation
• Experience of specialist psychological therapy assessment and treatment of patients across a range of mental health care settings relevant to an NHS Talking Therapies service, including outpatients, community and primary care settings
• Qualification in CBT or an NHS TT modality supervision
