Activities Co-ordinator – UK Visa Sponsorship | Care Home Jobs With Sponsorship 2026 Amazing Opportunity

Co-ordinator of Activities

Elizabeth Homes, Howden, East Yorkshire | £13.00–£13.50/hour | 20-30 hours/week

Elizabeth Homes is a friendly residential and dementia care home in the centre of Howden, East Yorkshire. We provide person-focused care to a maximum of 30 residents, and we are proud of the close-knit community we have developed here. We are searching for an energetic, creative, and compassionate Activities Coordinator to join our team and make every day really count for our seniors.

The Role

As our Activities Coordinator, you will be responsible for creating and delivering a lively, diverse, and person-centred activities programming that enhances the daily lives of our residents. You will work closely with our care team to ensure activities are adapted to individual requirements, abilities, and interests – whether residents are living with dementia, enjoying an active retirement, or anywhere in between.

This is a flexible part-time role of 20-30 hours per week (Monday to Friday with one weekend day per fortnight on a rota basis). Exact hours will be discussed with the successful candidate. As our house grows and develops, we see a clear opportunity to increase hours over time.

What You Will Do

  • Plan and administer a weekly activities calendar – group and one-to-one – to suit specific preferences, life histories, and abilities of residents
  • Facilitating music therapy sessions, remembrance activities, arts & crafts, moderate exercise, gardening, quizzes, themed days, and social gatherings
  • Organising and taking residents out and about in our minibus to local places of interest such as The Deep aquarium in Hull, the historic Howden Minster, Beverley town centre and Saturday market, Bridlington and Hornsea beaches, Burnby Hall Gardens in Pocklington, and Bishops Manor art exhibitions in Howden itself
  • Involving people with dementia in activities that appeal to the senses, remembrance work, and person-centred methods
  • Collaborating with our clinical partners to ensure the activities meet the requirements of residents with more complicated demands. Building partnerships with families, volunteers, local schools, community groups, and performers to add variety and community connection to the house
  • Accurate records of activities delivered and resident involvement for compliance considerations
  • Preparing a quarterly activities report for management and the board
  • Supporting the care team with activity-based techniques during calmer times of the day

About You – Basic

  • A real interest in working with elderly people and enhancing their quality of life
  • Energetic and creative – you are enthusiastic and initiative-taking in all you do.
  • Experience in organising and implementing events within care, community, education, arts or voluntary settings
  • A true passion for music, arts, crafts, storytelling, or community activities
  • Knowledge of person-centred care and of adapting activities to meet individual needs and abilities
  • Understanding of dementia and its impact on engagement, communication, and daily life. Warm, patient, and capable of building true relationships with residents, family, and staff
  • Organised and able to plan ahead, but flexible and react on the day
  • Basic IT skills for record and communication purposes. An enhanced DBS check (we will undertake this for you if you do not already have one)

About You – Nice To Have

  • Experience delivering activities specifically for persons living with dementia or complex needs
  • NVQ or equivalent in Health and Social Care Level 2 or above
  • NAPA or comparable activity coordination/well-being qualification
  • Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) techniques
  • Able to plan community outings and work with volunteers or entertainers
  • Care home experience (preferred)

What We Provide

  • £13.00 – £13.50 per hour dependant on experience
  • Flexible hours of 20-30 hours per week to suit you – possibility to increase if the house grows
  • A team that’s like family in a home that truly cares about its residents and its staff
  • Join our Internal Talent Development Programme (ITDP) – we invest in the training and qualifications of staff who exhibit desire and dedication
  • Minibus for resident outings throughout East Yorkshire and farther afield
  • Workplace pension schemes
  • 28 days holiday pro rata (including of public holidays)
  • Real opportunity to influence and own the activities programme – this is your role to develop
