We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a Band 4 Anticoagulation Assistant Practitioner.

The Anticoagulation Assistant practitioner will coordinate and support the anticoagulation team to ensure excellent service is provided to all patients and service users.

Main duties of the job

Key areas of responsibility will be assisting in the smooth running of the Anticoagulation clinic, which includes point of care (POC) near testing for patients, as well as providing administrative support. The post holder should have a confident and professional attitude, good telephone manner, word processing skills, and be able to use/learn clinical programmes (RAID/DAWN, Cerner). They must be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Certificate or qualification in Health and Social Care
  • Good general education (GCSE/A-levels or equivalent)

Desirable

  • IT/Computer training

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a health care setting, particularly with an anticoagulation clinic in an outpatient setting.
  • Certificate in phlebotomy as well as experience with point-of-care near-patient testing
  • Administrative/management experience.

Desirable

  • A good understanding of patient care.
  • Customer care training

Skills, abilities, and attributes

Essential

  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • IT literate with good keyboard and word processing skills.
  • Ability to maintain up-to-date and accurate records.
  • Able to work across organisational boundaries.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Able to work autonomously, managing own workload as well as part of the team.

Desirable

  • Able to work autonomously, managing own workload as well as part of the team.
  • Familiar with Cerner or any other patient data collection systems.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations.
  • Willingness to expand on the current knowledge base
