Introduction
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Activities Co-ordinator to join our team to provide fun and engaging activities in a care home setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving the quality of life of residents, especially those in need of specialised dementia and Alzheimer’s care. This is a paid position and a great opportunity to apply your talents in senior care and caregiving in a constructive way to enhance the welfare and social engagement of the residents.
Responsibilities
Plan and Lead Activities
- Plan, plan, and lead a variety of recreational activities to match the interests and needs of residents, including those with dementia or Alzheimer’s illness
Develop Tailored Activity Plans
- Develop tailored activity plans that enhance mental stimulation, physical movement, and social contact.
Work with Care Professionals
- Work with care professionals to ensure activities are appropriate to individual residents’ health conditions and abilities
Promote Resident Participation
- Promote participation of all residents, creating an inclusive and supportive environment
Monitor and Improve Activities
- Track and assess activity efficacy and make any required adjustments to optimise engagement.
Maintain Accurate Records
- Keep precise records of residents’ participation and comments to allow for ongoing improvement
Organise Special Events and Outings
- Support in the organisation of special activities or outings that improve the quality of life of inhabitants
Effective Communication
- Communicate effectively with residents, family, and staff to meet activity expectations and needs
Abilities
- Experience with seniors in an assisted living or nursing care setting is preferred
- Knowledge of principles of senior care, dementia care, and Alzheimer’s care
- Strong communication abilities to interact with residents in a compassionate and productive way
- Genuine desire to improve the lives of elderly folks with valid caring skills
- Ability to design programmes of creative activity to meet a variety of needs and abilities
- Good planning skills, organised, and able to do more than one thing at once
- Patient and understanding when dealing with people with cognitive decline or special needs • Empathetic nature
