Main duties of the job
This is an exceptional opportunity to join our ultrasound team and develop advanced clinical skills while delivering the highest standards of patient care. You will use your growing specialist knowledge to support safe, professional, high-quality examinations in line with local, regional and national guidelines, always ensuring the wellbeing and comfort of every patient in your care. Working as part of a supportive, highly skilled team, you will follow established departmental scanning protocols and contribute to the smooth running of the service.
In this hands-on role, you will undertake supervised scanning across a range of areas–including obstetrics, gynaecology, abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound–gaining broad experience and confidence as you progress. With the guidance of a supervising sonographer, you will help produce accurate, timely scan reports using CRIS, PACS and digital dictation systems, developing the clinical judgement needed for independent practice.
You will also have the chance to contribute to service development, supporting the introduction of new techniques and helping shape the evolution of the ultrasound department. A commitment to continuous learning is essential, as you will regularly update your clinical knowledge and refine your scanning skills. Additional duties may be assigned by the Head of Imaging, providing valuable opportunities to broaden your experience while working within Trust policies and best practice guidelines.
