Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the ultrasound team in the Humber Health Partnership as a trainee sonographer.
You would undertake a PG Certificate in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ultrasound. This would involve clinical placements within the ultrasound departments across the trust and part-time studies in medical ultrasound with a Higher Education provider.
Main duties of the job
- Completion of postgraduate studies.
- Gain all competencies to independently perform ultrasound examinations
- Gain all competencies to provide a diagnostic report on ultrasound examinations undertaken.

The trust reserves the right to withdraw your clinical placement and, therefore, terminate your contract if you are unsuccessful in completing the academic modules required for the job role.
The role is subject to a period of probation, and your contract can be terminated if you do not progress or meet the terms of your probation.
Learn the skills to undertake a coordinating role for the day-to-day planning of the operational workload of the department when required.
- Work as a team member within a multi-disciplinary team, providing a high-quality ultrasound service whilst maintaining high standards of patient care
- Maintain effective relationships and have regular communication with the ultrasound team, radiologists, and all areas of Radiology.
- Partake in the departmental audit and case review programme
- Participate in the annual appraisal process to include reflected practice and multi-source feedback
- Responsible for own professional development and education

Education/ Qualifications
Essential
- Hold, or be expected to attain a recognised health care profession degree 2:1 or above
- Have an up-to-date professional portfolio.
- Hold, or be able to apply for, HCPC, NMC, or GMC registration
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential
- Demonstrate undergraduate experience of working in the field/area of health care
Desirable
- Demonstrate qualified experience of working in the field of diagnostic imaging.
- Demonstrate experience in medical ultrasound.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Essential
- Demonstrate theoretical, practical, and professional knowledge of an area of healthcare
- Demonstrate an ability to communicate with patients and other health care workers.
- Registered/registering on a recognised programme of study leading to eligibility to work at Band 7
- Commitment to undergo all training requirements of the post.
Desirable
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of a wide range of general and specialised radiography.
- Demonstrate evidence of good academic skills
- Knowledge and insight into current trends in radiographic practice and wider NHS issues.
