Our ideal candidate is organised and hard-working, with good communication and people skills. Previous experience of supporting people with their mental health is essential.

You will work in our clinical service, whilst undertaking a taught Certificate in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy delivered by the University of Exeter. The course will consist of part remote working and part in-person attendance at a university venue (to be confirmed).

Main duties of the job

Your main responsibilities will be: learning theoretical knowledge of CBT and applying this in clinical practice – completing assignments as directed by the University of Exeter – conducting initial assessments and collaboratively making decisions on treatment- providing treatment in a range of formats; psychoeducational groups (online and in person), one-to-one (via telephone and in person) and computerised CBT – receiving caseload management and clinical skills supervision- liaising with other professionals and organisations – managing your own caseload and clinical diary, ensuring timely outcomes for patients

We predominantly deliver treatment over the telephone and online, with some psychoeducational courses and appointments being offered in person.

‘Flexible’ working arrangements will be considered: Any request will be set against genuine operational requirements and limitations, and a manager doesn’t need to accede to the request. The role will include delivering both face-to-face and remote appointments from one of four bases. Whilst you should be aware that we do consider flexible working patterns, this is dependent on service demands. We would, however, expect candidates to be working from their assigned base for an initial start period and long-term working from base dependent upon the demands of our face-to-face clients.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a subject enabling the post holder to demonstrate psychological mindedness e.g. psychology, social sciences or health OR evidence of ability to study successfully at undergraduate year 1 level / regulated qualifications Framework Level 5

Desirable

  • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or within a psychological therapy
  • Received training (either formally or through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice

Other

Essential

  • Full driving licence with use of own transport for business purposes

Desirable

  • Fluent in languages other than English

Experience

Essential

  • Significant evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care

Desirable

  • Experience of working in primary care services
  • Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrate clinical outcomes

Personal skills, abilities and attributes

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including excellent telephone skills
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people across situations
  • Evidence of openness to learning new knowledge and skills
