This is a fixed-term/secondment for 9 months, covering a secondment.
We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Cambridge Adult Locality Team for 9 months secondment cover for 15 hours per week. You should have a degree or relevant professional registration as an Occupational Therapist and will be an active member of a dynamic, highly motivated, skilled and creative team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong teamwork ethic, a sense of accountability, and an ability to work under pressure and with a desire for innovation.
You will have the opportunity to manage a caseload of diverse service users, delivering a diverse range of clinical skills and building a therapeutic and recovery-based relationship.
Main duties of the job
The Cambridge Adult Locality team service supports working-age adults who have moderate to severe affective and psychotic disorders. The teams offer support in several ways, drawing from the expertise of such a variety of disciplines.
You will be working in a supportive environment that values your supervision and professional development. You will have a voice and role to play in service development.
The role will provide you with an opportunity to work within a sought-after area where you experience wider, interdisciplinary team dynamics. You will also work closely with external agencies and our local authority to support the needs of our service users.
Recovery principles are embedded in the work of the locality teams, and we aim to support people to reach their potential by facilitating hope, empowering autonomy, and developing meaning and purpose in life.
Please note that for this role, you will be required to travel independently around the county, meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. Education / Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum Bachelor level equivalent training in OT
- Additional clinical training relevant to specialism
- HCPC Professional Registration as OT
Desirable
- Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists
Experience
Essential
- Working with people with a range of mental health challenges
- Experience of working with a range of statutory and non-statutory services
- Working with carers or families
- Experience of supervising others.

- Service development or evaluation projects
Skills & Abilities

- Able to record information clearly and accurately
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Good team worker with effective interpersonal skills
- Self-management/able to manage own caseload with indirect support
- Able to manage the pressure of working in an intensive environment
- Ability to deliver specialist occupational-focused interventions such as sensory integration, reablement, and vocational assessment

Knowledge & Understanding
Essential
- Specialist knowledge of OT assessment, intervention, and practice models relevant to the service user group (e.g., MoHO)
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act
- Knowledge of RCOT and HCPC professional standards
- Good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding adults at risk of abuse and children
- Knowledge of developments in occupational therapy
