The Imaging Department at Whipps Cross Hospital is expanding, and we are seeking qualified Band 5 Junior Radiographers to join our dynamic and supportive team. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment.

As a Band 5 Radiographer, you will have the opportunity to enhance and consolidate your clinical experience across all areas of General Imaging, including A&E, GP, In-patient X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, and Theatres. Additionally, there is scope for training and rotation through Dexa, providing a broad range of experiences to develop your skills.

Main duties of the job

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, the post-holder will contribute to the safe and effective running of the imaging department and will be able to perform a wide range of X-ray examinations to a high standard. The post holder will be required to rotate through ED and general x-ray, fluoroscopy, and theatres and they will participate in the delivery of a 24/7, 365 service. The post holder will offer supervision to assistant practitioners, imaging assistants, students/apprentices and visitors to the imaging department.

The post holder will ensure patient flow in the trust by actively participating in the flow of emergency and inpatients to ensure same-day imaging. The post holder will be key in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and experience. The post holder at all times will demonstrate a high level of professionalism and act in accordance with the HCPC standards of proficiency. Furthermore, they are expected to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with other staff members characterized by trust, mutual respect, and open, honest communication.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers, or equivalent
  • Health and Care Professions Council Registration

Desirable

  • Student Clinical Assessors Course

Experience

Essential

  • Up-to-date knowledge of general imaging techniques
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Awareness of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care.
  • Understanding of factors affecting service throughput and quality
  • Experience of on- call and out-of-hours roster

Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to cope with work pressures and manage time effectively
  • Ability to cope with conflict and complaints at the local level commensurate with Trust policies
  • Ability to make prompt decisions based on knowledge, experience, and circumstances
  • Basic computer and keyboard skills
  • Keep all records up to date in a clear, accurate, and concise manner on a day-to-day basis
  • Self-motivated with an ability to motivate others
  • Able to work flexibly based on the needs of the service.

Desirable

  • Intermediate IT skills.

Communication

Essential

  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective communication in a wide range of situations in writing, person or by telephone
  • Computer and keyboard skills
  • Keep all records up to date in a clear, accurate and concise manner on a day-to-day basis.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
