Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility.

• Support clients with medication administration in accordance with prescribed guidelines.

• Prepare nutritious meals that meet individual dietary requirements.

• Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce loneliness and promote mental well-being.

• Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning and laundry, to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.

• Assist clients with transfers and mobility using appropriate techniques and equipment.

• Maintain accurate written and digital care records.

• Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure continuity and quality of care.

• Support older adults and individuals with conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as those requiring hospice care.

• Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience in home care, nursing homes, assisted living, support work or a similar role is desirable; paid or voluntary experience is relevant.

• A valid driving licence and access to reliable transport are essential, as the role requires travel between clients’ homes.

• Knowledge of personal care practices, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, senior care and hospice care is beneficial.

• Ability to assist with lifting and transferring clients safely when required.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to provide compassionate, person-centred care and manage challenging behaviours appropriately.

• Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and duty of care.

• Ability to maintain accurate care documentation and digital records.

• Reliability, punctuality and commitment to high-quality care.

• Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and potentially overnight shifts.

• First aid and CPR certifications are preferred but not essential, as training may be provided.
