Job Description

Girish’s Costcutter is searching for a friendly, reliable, and hard-working Shop Assistant to join our team. The chosen applicant will deliver a first-class customer service, will maintain high store standards, and will assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the shop. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys interacting with people, has a positive attitude, and appreciates working in a fast-paced retail setting.

Main duties

• Greet customers and deliver friendly, professional service.
• Accurately operate the till and process cash and card payments.
• Refill shelves and make sure things are displayed well.
• Check stocks and rotate products to keep them fresh.
• Always keep the shop neat, tidy and structured.
• Facilitate receipt and unpacking of deliveries.
• Check the expiry dates on your products and eliminate any out-of-date stock.
• Follow company procedures, food hygiene and health and safety.
• Help us stop stock loss by telling us about any problems or suspicious conduct.
• Assist management and coworkers with retail operations on a daily basis.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Reliable, trustworthy, punctual.
• Ability to work as a team.
• Basic numeracy and cash handling skills.
• Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings as necessary.

Wishlist

• Previous retail or convenience shop background.
• Experience with EPOS or till systems.
• An understanding of health and safety practices within retail and food hygiene.
