We are looking for an exceptional and inspirational Capital Project Manager – a technical expert who will be a pivotal member of the Trust’s Estates team.
This role will be a highly visible member of estates who will lead the delivery of several projects across the Trust.
With over 130 properties across East London, Luton & Bedfordshire and a multitude of service contracts with NHS and Private sector providers, you will be instrumental in ensuring that we are providing the best possible experience and quality of care for the population that uses our services as well as staff and partners that work for our Trust.
You will have a proven track record of managing NHS (or similar) development and project delivery teams as well as being an inspirational leader who takes pride in stakeholder engagement.
Main duties of the job
As an effective Capital Project Manager, you will;
- Contribute to the strategic direction and be responsible for the management, delivery and monitoring / improvement of a number of the Trust’s Capital projects from RIBA stage 0 to 7 and to provide a safe and suitable estate for all service users, visitors and staff, encompassing full statutory compliance.
- Deliver Capital schemes and provide budgetary / spend profiling and control, including lessons learned and feedback initiatives.
- Prepare Project Reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide advice on best practice procurement procedures and management, including the use of approved public sector frameworks e.g. Procure 23, Crown Commercial Services, SBS framework.
- Be a lead for construction project health and safety related matters, including management and control of contractors, for estates infrastructure projects.

Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in construction, engineering, architecture, building surveying or related field.
- OSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
- Demonstrable CPD in project management or construction compliance
Desirable
- PRINCE2 Practitioner or APM PMQ
- CDM Duty Holder training
- Asbestos Awareness
- Training in HBN/HTM standards or healthcare design
Experience
Essential
- Proven experience delivering construction or estates projects independently
- Experience managing contractors and consultants
- Experience producing project documentation (risk logs, change controls, reports)
- Experience working in safety-critical environments
- Experience managing project budgets
Desirable
- NHS or healthcare estates experience
- Experience with compliance activities (RAMS, permits, audits).
- Experience using CAFM or PMO systems
- Experience preparing feasibility studies or business case inputs.
Knowledge
Essential
- Strong understanding of construction processes and RIBA stages.
- Understanding of HBN/HTM standards and healthcare functional requirements
- Knowledge of NHS capital governance (CPSG, PMO, ERIC, PAM).
Desirable
- Knowledge of procurement frameworks (Procure 23, CCS, SBS).
- Understanding of PFI/LIFT environments
Skills
Essential
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Project, Excel and project management tools.
Desirable
- Ability to lead small project teams or workstreams
- Ability to support cost planning and value engineering.
