Table of Contents
- Support the modernisation and development of the company’s application infrastructure
- Deliver platform upgrades, security improvements, disaster recovery capability and reliable deployment processes
- Take an active role in PostgreSQL major-version upgrades, compatibility testing and query/performance validation
- Patch, upgrade and maintain Debian/Linux operating systems, including security hardening
- Build and test disaster recovery solutions, including failover procedures and periodic DR testing
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable and repeatable application and infrastructure deployments
- Administer, maintain and tune Apache Tomcat application servers supporting the bespoke Java application stack
- Provide Linux systems administration, including monitoring, capacity planning, backups and incident response
- Troubleshoot production issues across operating system, database and application layers
- Support infrastructure engineering, maintenance and troubleshooting across projects
- Contribute infrastructure expertise to new project environments, deployments and technology initiatives
- Maintain technical documentation and operational records
- Improve infrastructure, deployment and operational processes for reliability, security and control
- Support compliance with ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements
- Work with Development and wider Infrastructure teams on business and technology projects
- Report concerns, support audits and contribute to continual process improvement
Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience as a Linux Systems Administrator, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar role, ideally with Debian/Ubuntu environments
- Practical experience administering PostgreSQL, including major-version upgrades
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, for example with Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent
- Experience administering Apache Tomcat or similar Java application servers
- Experience building and testing disaster recovery solutions
- Strong troubleshooting skills spanning operating system, database, and application layers
- Familiarity with security hardening, access controls, system auditing and logging
- Scripting ability, for example Bash or Python, for automating routine administration tasks would be an advantage
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently while coordinating with Development and wider Infrastructure teams
- Awareness of, or practical experience working within, ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management system frameworks (or equivalent) is desirable
- Comply with applicable company policies, procedures, work instructions and legal/regulatory requirements
- Follow ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Good Distribution Practice requirements
- Complete required training and maintain role competence
- Maintain accurate, complete and timely records
- Report deviations, incidents, non-conformances and other concerns promptly
- Cooperate with internal and external audits
